This time last year, I had applied to Columbia College Chicago. For those of you who don’t know me very well, my original plan was to study occupational therapy and attend my first two years of college at a community college in my hometown. Afterwards, I would have liked to have gone to the University of Illinois, Chicago and receive my bachelors degree. I always knew I wanted to go to school in the city when I was younger. Little did I know, I was going to be studying at an art school.

It took me until senior year to realize that I should be studying something that I love to do, have a passion for, and would thoroughly enjoy doing every day for the rest of my life. I decided to apply to Columbia when I saw all the hype of my friends applying to their dream schools. My only thought was that, it wouldn’t hurt to send an application in. With the help of my friends and family, especially with my extremely supportive parents, I would not be where I am today. Their faith and strong belief in me is my reason for being extremely motivated to finish school to receive my Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Business and Marketing.

For those of you who didn’t think I could do it or still think I can’t, thank you for giving me a reason to keep myself motivated to finish strong. For those of you who have supported me through my journey, thank you for giving me a reason to follow my dreams. Columbia teaches all their students to “live what you love,” and with those words I promise to do exactly that.

UNTIL NEXT TIME FASHION LOVERS
