Being a Goal Digger

The definition of a goal is the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. I chose to write about goals because I am heading into yet another school year. Every year I set a short term goal for myself. Today, I am moving into my very first apartment in downtown Chicago. One of goals on my bucket list is to live on Michigan Avenue, little did I know that I would be checking off one of those goals at 19 years old.

We all have goals. My short term goals this is year is to continue to get good grades to get accepted into the Business program at University of East-London. One of my goals is to study abroad in Europe and I intend on accomplishing this goal by my junior year. My long term goal is to live a happy life and to give back to my parents for giving me a great life…AND to live out in Los Angeles, California by the age of 24 (my golden birthday/year). Hopefully I will be working my dream job in the fashion industry.

Many of us have goals, whether they are big or little we all deserve to reach them. Two years ago, heading into my senior year of high school, I was lost. I didn’t know what I wanted to study in college, didn’t know where I wanted to go to school, I was just getting out of my first long term relationship at the time, my parents were going through a divorce, and so on and so forth. The list could probably go on. All these hardships in my life at the time seemed pretty normal but a little heavy on my shoulders and my heart. It seemed like rock bottom at the time but there was no where else to go but up.

My advice to anyone reading this right now is if your goal seems easy enough to reach, you aren’t dreaming big enough. If you want to start and change up your life style, YOU are the one controlling your own life and no one else is. YOU are the one who has to make the change. Stop wishing for luck and start having some faith. Surround yourself with people who push you to be a better you and who help you accomplish these goals. You truly are who you surround yourself with, the people in your life right now are the people shaping you into the person you are today and who you will become.

Here’s to a better you and another year of reaching those goals.

xoxo — Bree
