5-Year Blogiversary
FIVE YEARS!? What a beautiful journey it’s been since I first started my website. There has definitely been plenty of ups and downs, but I will say that I am glad that I stuck through it. Because of the content I have made, I have been able to receive some amazing products and work with some of my favorite brands along the way. It’s been a blessing in disguise - to find a hobby that is both work and play. Although I do not create content full-time, sometimes it really does feel like it. But it has been totally worth it.
When they say college is some of the best years of your life, they aren’t kidding. Since I started my blog in 2015, I have been blessed with so many opportunities. It’s crazy what a difference a year can make, let alone 5 years. I’d like to thank all my fellow creators who have helped me make content, my family and friends for supporting me and those who have been following along with my blog/Instagram. I’d just like to share with you my top favorite memories from the last 5 years.
5 FAVORITE MEMORIES:
✭ 2015: Going to Columbia College to study my degree in Fashion Business and minor in Marketing. Not once did I ever doubt myself in what I wanted to study and so thankful that my parents were so supportive with following my heart and dreams. I never once swapped majors and I ended up making the best of friends with such talented creators when I entered the Fashion Department.
✭ 2016: Lived off of Michigan Avenue. Seriously this was such a dream, to live on one of the most popular streets that Chicago is known for. Right in the heart of the Loop and the hustle & bustle of the tourist attractions. It was so fun being right downtown and being able to explore the city with my friends.
✭ 2017: Studying abroad the first semester of my junior year of college in London. This is by far my favorite year of my college experience. I was able to travel to 8 countries and immerse myself in different cultures like never before. This was best four months of my life and the first big move away from home and my family/friends. I met the coolest people, who I still keep in touch with, from all of the world. I would do anything to go back.
✭ 2018: Landing Internships at Modern Luxury Magazine and Zapwater Communications. Two completely different opportunities, but these were the internships that gave me affirmation that I knew I chose the right industry to work in. I thank God every day for blessing me with clarity on choosing the career for me and sticking through it.
✭ 2019: Graduating from Columbia College, working for a fashion/tech start-up, starting my freelance business and being hired at Claire’s as the Marketing Coordinator. Honestly the craziest year of my life, but I would expect nothing less from a college graduate. I have learned the most about myself this year than I ever had. Hustling was second nature to me and learning to make decisions for me and no one else was one of the most important things I learned.
CURRENTLY: 2020 was an unexpected turn of events for everyone but helped me realize now more than ever, that life is always about right place and right time. Unfortunately, I got furloughed from Claire’s as soon as I started but I was able to work for my old company, Garmentier, during that downtime. Since then, I moved back to the city but was feeling lost and unfilled. I was unexpectedly offered a full-time position to work back at a previous employer, Zapwater Communications. I am excited to announce that I will be their new Social Media and Influencer Specialist. Although this year was filled with unfortunate events and a lot of unknowns, I somehow learned so much more about myself and what I truly need in my life to fulfill my needs and happiness.
It has been such a blissful yet stressful journey but wouldn’t want it any other way. I have met some of the coolest people in the industry and have been able to collaborate with some of my favorite brands. Life’s a climb but the view’s great. This is only the very beginning of my climb but can’t wait to see what else is in store for me from here.
Sending all my love and a safe rest of the year.
