How to Pitch Yourself
HELLO LOVELIES
It has been a minute since I have been able to sit down and write my thought process in content creation that I love to share. As most of you know, my full-time job consists of working at a PR & Social Media Agency. My day-to-day job consists of social media, content creation and influencer relations. On the side, I also freelance for small businesses and create content as a mircoinfluencer. I would definitely say that this is my passion project. Within time, I’ve learned the in’s and out’s of what works and what doesn’t work when it comes down to working with brands as a content creator.
5 THINGS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR PITCH TO BRANDS:
✭ Establishing the type of partnership: Knowing your worth between earned and paid partnerships can be challenging. Being a microinfluencer is not my full-time job, I balance projects that I agree to, between earned and paid partnerships. If you are seeking a paid partnership, mention your deliverables + rates.
✭ Overview of campaign concept: When writing a DM or email to brands, oftentimes I include what I would be using their product or service for. For example, if you are traveling on vacation, you can mention that this will be included in your ‘What to Pack for Vacation Guide’ and that you will be tagging and mentioning their products.
✭ Qualitative stats/analytics: Brands want to see the numbers, show your worth that you can convert sales!
✭ Deliverables: What services can you offer the brand? I love to create In-Feed Instagram photos and TikTok/Instagram Reels as a part of my content creation services. Sometimes, Influencers will charge for the photo usage and set a timeframe on how long the brand has until they can reshare & repurpose these images/videos.
✭ Be genuine: Take the time to write out that email or DM to the brand that you are pitching out to. People can see right through if you are just copying and pasting a template to work and get product versus creating a thoughtful note of why you genuinely enjoy the company you are working.
Remember to keep these first outreach notes short, sweet and to the point! After a brand has responded, feel free to engage and share additional details and links that will seem of interest and relevant to the project you are pitching yourself to.
